About the Socomec price lists
The Socomec price list on this page took effect on September 2025. Its cover describes the range as solutions for power switching, power monitoring and power conversion. This guide explains what each of the three covers, how to read a switching line, what to specify for changeovers and UPS, and how the printed price becomes your rate.

What the Socomec list covers
The three headings on the cover map to three kinds of purchase:
- Power switching. Switch disconnectors, fuse combination switches and changeover switches, manual and automatic. Socomec's ranges include SIRCO switch disconnectors and ATyS transfer switches.
- Power monitoring. Meters and measurement devices, with the CTs and communication that connect them, in ranges such as DIRIS and COUNTIS.
- Power conversion. UPS systems and the parts that go with them.
Find the heading first; part numbers and descriptions are organised under it.
How to read a switching line
For a switch disconnector or a changeover switch, the line's reference encodes the ratings that make it suitable — or not — for the circuit:
- Rated current and poles, with four poles where the neutral must be switched, as it usually is between mains and a generator.
- Utilisation category, such as AC-22A or AC-23A, which says what the switch may make and break under load.
- Operation, manual or motorised, and for automatic changeovers the controller that decides when to transfer.
- Accessories, such as handles, shafts, auxiliary contacts, terminal shrouds and bridging bars, which are lines of their own.
Compare quotations on the complete switch with its accessories, not on the switch body alone. Our post on the 20 most used electrical components sets out what to specify for changeovers and switch-fuse units.
Manual or automatic changeover
A manual changeover switch is the simpler and cheaper choice where someone is always present to switch between mains and generator. An automatic transfer switch watches the supply and transfers on its own, which matters where loads cannot wait for a person — lifts, pumps, critical lighting. Price an automatic transfer switch with its controller and any generator-start signals the site needs, and check the transfer time against the loads it serves.
Power monitoring: meters and CTs together
A meter in the list is only part of a metering point. To price one that works, include:
- The meter, by the parameters it must measure and the accuracy class the reading needs.
- The current transformers, with a secondary current matching the meter's input and a class and burden suited to it.
- The communication the site's monitoring system reads, and the cabling or gateway it needs.
- The auxiliary supply and the panel cut-out.
A meter is only as accurate as the CT that feeds it, which is why a CT of the wrong class is one of the errors in our post on the most common switchgear ordering errors.
Pricing a UPS: what is in the line
A UPS line is rarely the whole system. Before comparing quotations, check the kVA or kW rating, single or three phase, and above all the battery: the backup time the site needs decides the battery bank, and batteries, cabinets and cabling are often separate lines. A cheaper UPS quoted without batteries is not cheaper than one quoted with them.
List price, GST and discount
Check the terms in the list for its price basis: a list price is normally before GST, which is added to the seller's net rate, while an MRP includes all taxes. The list on this page dates from September 2025; ask a seller whether a later edition applies, and check the edition behind every quotation. Our guide to reading a switchgear quotation explains landed cost, and our post on switchgear price increases explains how a new edition affects quotations in hand.
Buying genuine Socomec products
A changeover switch is the device that separates a generator from the grid; a failure there is a safety problem, not an inconvenience. Buy through Socomec's authorised channel and check what arrives against our guide to verifying genuine switchgear. For fuses, see the Eaton Bussmann price list, and for meters the Elmeasure list.
Questions about the Socomec price list
Where can I download the Socomec price list PDF?
On this page. The list effective September 2025 is the card above and opens the maker's PDF in a new tab.
What is the difference between a manual and an automatic changeover switch?
A manual changeover switch is operated by a person. An automatic transfer switch watches the supply and transfers between sources on its own, with a controller deciding when.
Does a changeover switch need four poles?
Usually, between mains and a generator, so that the neutral is switched with the phases. Confirm it against the earthing arrangement on the single-line diagram.
Is GST included in the Socomec price list?
Check the terms in the list. A list price is normally before GST; an MRP includes all taxes.
Are batteries included in a UPS price?
Often not. The backup time a site needs decides the battery bank, and batteries, cabinets and cabling are frequently separate lines. Check what each quotation includes before comparing.
