About the TDK EPCOS price lists

The TDK price list on this page is its 2026 list for power factor correction capacitors and key components, sold under the EPCOS name. It prices the capacitors and the parts that make a correction bank work. This guide explains how to read a capacitor line, how a bank is specified before it is priced, and how list price, GST and discount combine.

What the TDK EPCOS list covers

The cover names two groups: power factor correction capacitors, and key components. The second group is what turns capacitors into a working bank — detuning reactors, power factor controllers and the devices that switch each capacitor step in and out. Price them as one system: a quotation for capacitors alone is not comparable with one for a complete set of components.

How to read a capacitor line

Compare quotations on kVAr at the same rated voltage. A cheaper capacitor of the same kVAr at a lower rated voltage is a different product — and the wrong one if the bank is detuned.

Specifying a correction bank before you price it

  1. Total kVAr from the load and the power factor you need to reach, usually set by the supply utility's requirement.
  2. Number of steps, so the controller can match correction to a changing load without over-correcting.
  3. Harmonics. Where drives, UPS and other non-linear loads are significant, the bank needs detuning reactors; 7 per cent and 14 per cent are the common choices, set by the harmonics present.
  4. Switching, by capacitor duty contactors for normal loads, or thyristor switching where the load changes fast.
  5. Controller, with enough step outputs for the bank and the communication the site needs.

An ordinary contactor switching a capacitor can weld its contacts on the inrush current, which is why capacitor duty is one of the eight errors in our post on the most common switchgear ordering errors.

Keeping a correction bank working

A capacitor bank loses output quietly. Capacitors age, a failed step stops contributing, and the power factor drifts down until the electricity bill shows it. Price spares and maintenance along with the bank:

List price, GST and discount

Check the terms in the list for its price basis: a list price is normally before GST, which is added to the seller's net rate, while an MRP includes all taxes. Sellers quote a discount off the list, and for a complete bank the quantity and the mix of components affect it. Compare quotations on the same kVAr, voltage, steps and components. Our guide to reading a switchgear quotation explains landed cost in full.

Buying genuine EPCOS capacitors

A capacitor that fails early, or swells under harmonics it was not built for, takes the bank's correction with it. Buy through TDK's authorised channel, check the rating plate and marking against the list, and keep the invoice trail; our guide to verifying genuine switchgear sets out the checks. For comparison, Schneider Electric's power quality products are in the Schneider Electric lists on this site.

Questions about the TDK EPCOS price list

Where can I download the TDK EPCOS price list 2026 PDF?

On this page. The 2026 power factor correction list is the card above and opens the maker's PDF in a new tab.

What is a detuned reactor?

A reactor connected in series with each capacitor step, tuned below the harmonic frequencies present, so the bank does not amplify harmonics. 7 and 14 per cent are the common choices.

Why is a capacitor rated above the system voltage?

To give margin for voltage variations and harmonics, and, behind a detuning reactor, because the reactor raises the voltage across the capacitor.

Is GST included in the TDK EPCOS price list?

Check the terms in the list. A list price is normally before GST; an MRP includes all taxes.

Can I use an ordinary contactor to switch a capacitor?

No. Use a capacitor duty contactor, which limits the inrush current, or a thyristor switch. An ordinary contactor can weld its contacts.

How many kVAr does my installation need?

It follows from the load's active power, its present power factor and the power factor you need to reach. Your electrical consultant or panel builder calculates it from the site's load data or electricity bills, and splits it into steps.
