About the Polycab price lists
The Polycab price list on this page is the house wires and cables list, with effect from January 2026 — the maker's own PDF. This guide explains how a wire line is defined and priced, how to compare two quotations for the same cable, why the list changes more often than a switchgear list, and how to make sure the cable you receive is the cable you paid for.

What the Polycab house wires and cables list covers
The list prices Polycab's wire and cable for homes and commercial buildings: single-core house wire in the common sizes, flexible and multi-core cables, and the variants that differ in insulation and fire performance. Each line is defined by its cross-section, cores, insulation and colour, and most house wire is priced per coil of a stated length.
Polycab sells much more than house wire — power and control cables, and electrical products beyond cable — and those ranges are priced in lists of their own that are not on this page. If you need a power cable for a feeder rather than wire for a building, ask a seller for the matching list.
How to read a wire line
- Cross-section. In square millimetres. The circuit's load, its length and the protective device on it decide the size — never the price.
- Insulation and fire performance. Flame-retardant (FR), flame-retardant low-smoke (FR-LSH) and halogen-free flame-retardant (HFFR) wires are different products. Specify the grade the building or the consultant requires, and compare quotations on the same grade.
- Conductor. House wire is normally multi-strand copper. The strand count and the conductor class are part of the product, and cheaper copies cut both.
- Coil length and unit. Check the length each price refers to before you compare two rates.
When you send an RFQ for wire, state all four, plus the colours and the quantity in coils. Our post on the 20 most used electrical components covers the specification for cable alongside the other common items.
How much wire to order
Wire is ordered in whole coils, by size and by colour, so the quantity takes a little planning:
- Take the run lengths for each circuit from the drawing, by size.
- Split them by conductor colour — the phase colours, black for neutral and green for earth are the common convention — because each colour is a separate coil.
- Add an allowance for routing, drops and terminations, then round up to whole coils.
- Order the coils for one site together, so that all of them come from one edition of the list and, ideally, one dispatch.
A short order of one colour is the commonest reason a wiring crew stops, and a part coil is rarely cheaper per metre than a full one.
Comparing two quotations for Polycab wire
Wire is bought in volume, so small differences in rate matter, and so do the things that hide them. Before choosing:
- Confirm both quotations are for the same size, insulation grade, colour and coil length.
- Confirm the edition of the list each is built on; cable lists move with copper.
- Compare net rate plus freight, since coils are heavy and freight is not trivial.
- Compare payment terms and the dispatch date; a lower rate on stock that is not in hand may cost more.
Our guide to reading a switchgear quotation explains landed cost in full, and our post on switchgear price increases explains why copper-heavy lines revise more often.
List price, GST and discount
Read the terms printed in the list for its price basis. A list price is normally before GST, which is added to the seller's net rate; an MRP includes all taxes. Sellers quote a discount off the list, and on wire the discount often depends on the quantity in coils as much as on the seller.
Making sure Polycab cable is genuine
Cable is one of the products where substandard copies do the most quiet damage: a conductor thinner than the size printed on the sheath, or with fewer strands than the standard requires, carries less current than its label says and runs hotter for its whole life. House wire sold in India is covered by a BIS quality control order and must carry the ISI mark. Check the sheath printing, the ISI licence number in the BIS Care app, and the conductor itself against a genuine sample; for large orders, have the conductor resistance tested. Our guide to verifying genuine switchgear covers the checks for cable in full.
For comparisons, the Finolex and Havells cable lists are on this site too.
Questions about the Polycab price list
Where can I download the Polycab price list 2026 PDF?
On this page. The house wires and cables list, with effect from January 2026, is the card above and opens the maker's PDF in a new tab.
Is Polycab wire priced per coil or per metre?
House wire is usually priced per coil of a stated length. Check the unit against each line and compare quotations on the same basis.
Does the Polycab price list include GST?
Check the terms printed in the list. A list price is normally before GST, which is added to the net rate; an MRP includes all taxes.
Which Polycab wire size do I need?
The circuit decides: its load, its length and the protective device on it. Your electrical designer or contractor sets the size; the price list only tells you what each size costs.
Why are cable prices revised so often?
Cable is mostly copper, and copper prices move. Makers revise cable lists more often than switchgear lists, so check the edition behind any rate.
